We then challenged Billy, whose book Roots, Radicals and Rockers is out in paperback this month, to select his six essential skiffle-records for our regular feature, Six Things. Here is his joyful and sometimes surprising half-dozen.
Coffee Bar Session (The Vipers Skiffle Group)
The Johnny Burnette Trio Volume II
The Great Gospel Singing of The Louvin Brothers
Dust Bowl Ballads Sung by Woody Guthrie
Brand New Cadillac (Vince Taylor and his Playboys)
Faber Social are offering one lucky person the chance to WIN all six of Billy’s records (the very same records as seen in the film) plus a copy of the book. To enter, watch Billy Bragg’s Six Things and then answer the following question:
Which artist does Billy say is the connection between skiffle and The Clash?
