Beck renews his creative relationship with LA multimedia artist Doug Aitken to create a one-off performance for Station To Station: A 30 Day Happening at the Barbican.
Joined by special guests including Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), the ensemble led by Beck will weave intricate music with readings by Simon Armitage, Paul Farley, Jemima Foxtrot, Lavinia Greenlaw, Don Paterson, Sam Riviere and Luke Wright – set to a backdrop of video projections by Doug Aitken.
In 2013, Beck took part in the first instalment of Aitken’s Station to Station, which crossed North America by train from the Atlantic to the Pacific over 24 days creating a platform for cross-disciplinary collaboration through a series of events in major cities and off-the-grid locations. On the occasion, he created electrifying performances with a full gospel choir, presenting them at two happenings in Barstow and Los Angeles. That same year, the Barbican brought Beck’s Song Reader – an album released only in sheet music form – to life with a one-off cast of guest singers and musicians.
This special collaboration coincides with the release of Beck’s new single ‘Dreams’, described as ‘soaring…the highlight of your summer before it’s even started’ (The Line of Best Fit) and ‘a sunshine laden psych-pop banger’ (Clash).
